ArtSouth "A Different Point of View"

This past Saturday we attended “A Different Point of View” Art Quilts Exhibit at ArtSouth in Homestead. We saw the beautiful work of fabric artists, Judy Momenzadeh.

She uses original, digitally printed images on cotton and she then free motion quilts it onto fabric and creates extraordinary fabric “paintings”. One such image that I saw and loved was Tranquillity. She describes how she did this particular piece in her blog, www.miamithreads.blogspot.com

“I photographed these images in Walton County, Fl. because they are so beautiful and peaceful. These are inland, salt water ponds and are unique because they are found only in Walton County and in Africa. I edited the photos in Photoshop Elements and printed them on Habotai silk. The lilly has an overlay of cotton organdy attached with beads. The background fabric is commercial cotton enhanced with watercolor pencils…free motion quilting with various threads. 17" x 22".

I had never really seen this type of quilt in person before and was astounded by the amount of work and complexity of each piece. Check out her incredible quilts!
