Royal Poinciana-Flamboyan

Copyright 2010 Maria Soto Robbins

This impressionistic, vibrant painting is filled with color and has a wonderful thick, lucious, textured impasto. I used both brushes and palette knife. This layering process gives it a wonderful, almost three dimensional quality!

Inspiration for this piece came from the stately Royal Poinciana (flamboyan) tree that sits in front of our house. It's huge and it's always a wonderful reminder of the beautiful plant life found in South Florida however, being originally from Cuba, I placed it in front of a typical Cuban mountain background. Artistic license!

Dimension: 20x24x.75 Gallery wrap canvas, painted to the sides
