Once again, we're planning our annual trip to visit family in Illinois. This year is extra special though. My mom-in-law is actually turning 100 this year! Here she is when she was just three years old in 1915. Wasn't she a cutie?
She was born in the small town of Toulon, Illinois and has never in her life lived very far from this location.
Even now, she's a resident of the Toulon Rehab Center since she can no longer fend for herself at home. And when the time comes, she'll be buried at the Toulon cemetery too.
Thankfully, she's quick witted and has a better memory than me. My husband, the baby of her nine children, speaks with her every Sunday and she lets him know whats going on in the town and loves to update him on the local obituaries. It's like she's still here and they're not!
I'm also looking forward to seeing the corn fields, barns and wide open spaces of this lovely part of Illinois!
