This painting was done at the request of a collector who had seen my little aceo Pink Hyacinth and loved it but the size was all wrong. Sometimes it's easy enough to take the theme from a little 2.5x3.5 aceo (art card edition original) and enlarge it to what ever size is needed, with the correct orientation. However, in this case, my little aceo was kind of a modernistic, abstract shape of an hyacinth, with heavy impasto. Of course she loved the tones but they didn't match the walls exactly. And she didn't want quiet such a modernistic, abstract painting since the room it's being displayed in is more traditional. She sent along color chips of the colors in the room. This is so helpful, if you're interested in an exact match. I don't mind doing this at all. As a matter of fact, I think it helps with the decision-making aspect of what colors to use, since that decision is made for you by the client. So these are some of the considerations when dealing with a commission.
