Mamey Oil Painting

This impressionistic painting was done in thick oil impasto with palette knive and brushes and it shows a "mamey" cut in half. The mamey sapote (Pouteria sapota) is a species of tree that is native to southern Mexico. The tree is cultivated not only in Mexico, but also in Central America, the Caribbean, and South Florida for its fruit, which is commonly eaten in many Latin American countries. It's a very popular fruit in Florida, and the Caribbean islands. The fruit is large, and it's highly esteemed because of it's wonderful, sweet taste. I love mamey shakes (batido de mamey)!
